Leggett & Platt's Sleep Geeks raise $10,000 for charity

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Leggett & Platt's Sleep Geek community raised $10,000 for charity as part of its November campaign, Geeksgiving.
Sleep Geek, an online community of retail sales associates and others in the bedding industry, raised the money for Feeding America, an organization that works with a national network of food banks.
During the campaign, which ran Nov.1-24, Sleep Geek asked questions about being thankful - a tie-in to Thanksgiving - with many of the answers pertaining to bedding. For each response, Leggett & Platt donated between $1 and $10 to Feeding America.
Sleep Geek organizers said the idea was to "challenge community members to reflect on their life and give thanks for things some might take for granted, including items related to the bedding industry." Questions included "Why are you thankful for innovation in the industry?" and "What about a mattress protector should someone be thankful for?"
Sleep Geek said it decided to donate to Feeding America because the online community was looking for a cause that tied into the Thanksgiving season and is focused on "making the world a better place."
