ST-PIE, Quebec - Dutailier Group has promoted David Fontaine to executive vice president, a new position for the manufacturer of wood glider rockers, accent leather upholster y and juvenile bedroom furniture.
Son of company owner and President Fernand Fontaine, the younger Fontaine has spent almost 15 years working in the company. He began his career as marketing coordinator in England. Returning to Quebec in 2000, he became brand manager and subsequently marketing manager.
He was named vice president of marketing in 2010. He will continue in that role, Dutailier said in a statement.
"David has agreed to take up this important challenge at a time when the situation is extremely difficult for furniture manufacturers to distance oneself from others, especially with the Asian competition, dollar fluctuation and worldwide economic crisis," Fernand Fontaine said. "There is no doubt in my mind that he is the right person to fulfill this mandate."
