IMC promotes four execs on leasing team
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, December 5, 2011
HIGH POINT - International Market Centers, which owns numerous showroom buildings in High Point and Las Vegas, has promoted four members of its leasing team as part of an ongoing reorganization of its staff in the two cities.
IMC said Julie Messner, Craig Staack, Lee Hershberg, and Margaret Powers were named vice presidents and are responsible for advancing new business opportunities at various IMC properties.
Messner, who has been vice president of publication sales for the International Home Furnishings Center since 2008, has been named vice president for business development in High Point. She will handle home furnishings leasing for IMC's High Point properties, which include the IHFC, Market Square, Plaza Suites, Furniture Plaza, the National Furniture Mart and Showplace.

She earlier worked as director of leasing at Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. in High Point, where she was responsible for leasing temporary showrooms in the Suites at Market Square and Plaza Suites.
Staack, who joined the World Market Center's leasing team in 2009, has been named vice president of business development in Las Vegas. He will handle home furnishings leasing for the WMC.
Before joining the WMC, Staack spent more than 30 years in furniture retailing. He owned and operated three furniture stores in Las Vegas and held senior management posts at Montgomery Ward, Heilig-Meyers and Homelife.
Messner and Staack report to Tom Mitchell, IMC's president of home furnishings.
Hershberg, vice president of accessory leasing at the IHFC since 2008, has been named vice president of home décor. He will be based in High Point and will report to IMC's president of Gift + Home, which currently is held in an interim capacity by Georgia Davis.
He previously worked for Nielsen Business Media and was director of its Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Atlanta.
Powers, who has been director of business development at the World Market Center since 2008, has been named vice president of tradeshow/Las Vegas. She will oversee temporary exhibits at the Las Vegas Market, and also reports to Davis.
"We are confident in the track records of these key team members. They represent some of the very best talent in the country and are incredibly in tune with the business, our industry and our customers. We believe in their abilities to lead IMC's leasing teams to success in both cities and nationally," said Mitchell.
The moves were part of a reorganization that has been ongoing since IMC consolidated the World Market Center and several key High Point showroom properties under common ownership. Eight people were laid off in mid-November.
