NEW YORK — Lexington Home Brands welcomed more than 300 designers, media and guests to its new 10,000-square-foot design studio at the New York Design Center Thursday evening.
The space, on the building's second floor, has been open since just before Thanksgiving. Thursday's event marked the company's official debut in the building.
The event also featured a several song performance by Grammy-winning jazz artist Steve Tyrell and his band.
The New York space contains pieces from every collection in Lexington's lineup including Tommy Bahama, Henry Link Trading Co. and Lexington branded product. The goal is to appeal to designers and their clients seeking a broad array of styles, finishes and fabrics.
"It's really eclectic and everything is suited up," said Phil Haney, President and CEO of Lexington Home Brands. "It is all mixed together. Designers don't want things to be cookie cutter."
Jim Druckman, New York Design Center president and one of the building's owners, said he was pleased to have Lexington as a tenant.
"In an industry and a marketplace that is not growing, Lexington is growing and we are growing," he said. "We are growing with new tenants and diverse tenants. As business is not as good as it's been, we want to take a bigger share of what's out there and we think we are doing that."
Lexington is in space 212 at the Design Center, which is at 200 Lexington Avenue and 33rd Street in Manhattan. Other tenants on the floor include Century and Grange.
