Manoir is pleased to announce its debut, offering furniture and home décor influenced by classic European design, direct to consumer. Founded by Elizabeth Jones and inspired by travel and her time living abroad, Manoir will deliver a range of versatile pieces designed in collaboration with skilled global artisans. Manoir’s products will be available exclusively online, enabling pieces of high quality and craftsmanship to reach consumers more efficiently, without sacrificing quality.
Taking cues from French and English interiors, “Manoir” (Manor in French) offers an eclectic yet refined style of furnishings, that is at once both classic and modern. Working directly with skilled artisans to design these pieces, Manoir offers quality, handcrafted furniture marked by soft, elegant neutrals and distressed detailing. Standout pieces include the Madeleine Sofa, featuring an elegant Louis XVI style silhouette with fluted legs embellished with decorative carvings. Crafted in solid wood, it is made modern with its natural linen and burlap upholstery. The Gauthier Sofa is a vintage-inspired Chesterfield with exposed birch framework contrasting its luxuriously-tufted upholstery. Done in a crisp linen and burlap, it evokes a comfortable, time-worn piece in a Provencal manor house.
Manoir’s home décor pieces have been sourced from artisans globally. Many pieces have been designed in France and handcrafted by artisans, including the Empire Intaglio Panelings, which feature engraved images in the Empire style from early 19th century France. The panels are finished in antique gold with inset hand-carved detailing. The Louvre Engravings are framed with hand-painted, age-finished moldings in aged-blue and gold and the Venus de Medici Neoclassical Bust, and the Medici Gilded Cast Iron Vase are reminiscent of what one might see in an old Hausmannian apartment. Manoir offers a range of exquisite mirrors with hand-crafted detailing, including the antique-inspired Fleury Mirror, featuring a beveled mirror in distressed gilt gold frame. Soft furnishings include sumptuous Faux Fur Pillows, which are finely crafted in France and are inspired by the European “chalet-chic” aesthetic. The Tibetan Pillows are beautiful handwoven works in silk, a result of a Tibetan woman entrepreneur who is passionate about preserving the craft of her heritage. The Chinoiserie Ginger Jar, inspired by richly textured English manor homes, features a nontraditional color palate, and has been expertly handcrafted in Jiangxi, China, the “Porcelain Capital” where they have been producing ceramics for over 1700 years. Each piece has a rich story to tell and has been hand-selected by Elizabeth to reflect the classic and refined aesthetic that Manoir will come to define.
A self-proclaimed Francophile, Elizabeth has lived in both London as well as France, where she received her MBA from INSEAD. During her time in London, she was continuously drawn to a certain aesthetic, a melding of traditional French, English, Belgian and Swedish décor, curated and styled to look sophisticated, modern and chic. She has fallen in love with this “English” aesthetic – a sophisticated palette with layers of beautiful fabrics, objets d’art and European furniture, punctuated by modern pieces for a look both authentic and beautiful. She began collecting furniture and décor items abroad, knowing that she would not be able to find these items back in the U.S. Many of her companions shared these sentiments as well, recognizing a need in the marketplace for high quality, easily-accessible European-style furnishings. It was then that she decided to create Manoir.
Manoir aims to work directly with its manufacturers to offer beautiful, high quality pieces within reach. For additional details or to purchase, please visit www.manoirgroup.com.
