Furniture Bank Receives $150,000 Furniture Donation after Harvey

HOUSTON, TX September 12. 2017 -- When Hurricane Harvey struck Houston, a local furniture company acted quickly to ensure hundreds would be provided with furnishings for their new home. While Harvey was still looming overhead and the disastrous effects unfolding around our city, Samantha and Scott Hoffer of Hoffer Furniture were busy making preparations to donate all of the contents of their 10,000 square foot clearance center.
The Hoffers knew who to call right away - their good friends at the Houston Furniture Bank. The local non-profit works all year round to provide Houstonians in need with furnishings, and with Samantha’s grandfather as one of the original founders of the Furniture Bank, turning to the Furniture Bank as the recipients for Hoffer’s donation was a no-brainer.
“We’ve been great partners with the Houston Furniture Bank since the very beginning. We got on the phone with Oli (Mohammed, Executive Director at the Furniture Bank) and told him our plan. As soon as the water subsided, trucks were at our loading docks taking away room after room of goods.”
Thanks to the Hoffer family countless families in Houston will be able to find some comfort post-Harvey.
