Barbara Ann Garrison, designer

HIGH POINT - Barbara Ann Garrison, 64, a designer and store planner who worked with a number of retailers and manufacturers, has died after a prolonged illness.
     Her career in the industry began at Alderman Studios in 1981 where she worked as a set designer for years. From Alderman she was hired by one of her studio clients, Thomasville Furniture, where she held a number of positions, including director of photography, showroom design and store planning as well as product design.
     In 1984, Garrison started her own successful interior design business, Dalton & Associates, which she continued to run until shortly before her death.
     Retailers that benefited from her store planning expertise included Cabot House Furniture in Boston as well as numerous Thomasville galleries. She also designed showrooms for manufacturers including Sealy, Samuel Lawrence, Habersham, Z-line, Home Meridian, Pulaski, Bauhaus and Collezione Europa.
     Garrison also was an accomplished painter, world traveler and doting grandmother.
     She is survived by her mother, two brothers, four children and four grandchildren, as well numerous friends.
