Carroll Leather acquires The Leather Collection
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, December 12, 2011
CONOVER, N.C. - Carroll Leather, a major supplier of leather for upholstered furniture, has agreed to acquire The Leather Collection, a high-end leather resource based in Hickory, N.C.
The acquisition will allow Carroll, which specializes in value-driven leathers, to broaden its product line and expand its customer base.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Joe Franck, vice president of Carroll's upholstery division, said the deal should benefit customers of both companies.
"We believe the combination of expertise from both companies will provide current and new customers with more value, service, versatility and satisfaction," he said.
Franck said his company plans to keep The Leather Collection brand intact, and said it will continue to target the design, contract, hospitality, aviation and automotive aftermarket industries.
Kym Bauguess, vice president of sales and marketing and a principal in The Leather Collection, is joining Carroll Leather and will be responsible for continuing to grow those markets, he said.
"We are pleased to have Kym join the Carroll Leather team," Franck said. "Her expertise in these design oriented markets is invaluable. Kym will have the freedom to do what she does best, and that is selling!"
In addition, Jesse Rector, former president of The Leather Collection, will serve as a liaison between the combined companies and tanneries in South America and Brazil, said Franck.
Operations of the two companies will be consolidated into Carroll's facility in Conover.
