HIGH POINT — Upper-end upholstery maker Gary George Designs, known for its contemporary and linear lines, plans to open a factory in south High Point, the High Point Economic Development Corp. announced.
It will be the company's second manufacturing facility. The other is in New York.
The 8,880-square-foot location here will allow the company to launch a framing and upholstering division for high-end designers seeking custom pieces, as well as for the residential and hospitality industries. It is expected to employ as many as 30, according to the High Point EDC.
Earlier this year, the company opened a showroom in the Design Center wing of the International Home Furnishings Center, where its products were shown along with those of Stanley Jay Friedman and Fillmore Harty.
