Venti daughter write book
Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, December 19, 2011

BreeAnn Fisher, left, and her mom, Debra Venti, have just had their first book published.
LENOIR, N.C. - Design and merchandising consultant Debra Venti and her daughter BreeAnn Fisher are the latest to join a host of furniture folk who have written books over the past several years.
"The Night After Christmas" is a rhyming satire of the famous Clement C. Moore poem that opens with the line, "Twas the night before Christmas." The new book carries the message that Christmas is in the life we live day-to-day.
Venti, a 25-year-veteran of the furniture industry, said she was decorating for Christmas last year when she noticed her daughter staring blankly at her computer screen as she worked on a school assignment to write a satire on her favorite Christmas book, song or other subject involving the holiday.
"My children

don't ask me for help very often because it usually becomes a production," said Venti, who waited until BreeAnn finally said, "OK, I need your help." Then the two started brainstorming and within an hour the assignment was finished for BreeAnn's school, Caldwell Early College High School.
Friends and family loved the story, but it sat on Venti's desk for about a year until Venti, who owns a bookstore here, sent it to a vendor friend for a "second opinion." Thirty minutes later, she said, Tate Publishing and Enterprises, one of the largest book publishers in the nation, sent a contract, making BreeAnn, now 17, its youngest signed author.
Venti said the book was too late for the August/September holiday book-buying season for bookstores, but the publisher is making 350 hard copies available for sale through Venti's Casa Bookstore & Café, where BreeAnn has been the children's book buyer since it opened six years ago.
The store is taking pre-orders and can be reached at Ventis-Casa@gmail.com or at (828) 759-1566. The books are $8.99 and can be shipped to customers.
The publishing house said that eventually the books will be sold across the U.S. to independent and big-box bookstores and also through www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, www.barnesandnoble.com and www.amazon.com.
"Just think," said Venti, "20 years from now my grandkids can read this little Christmas book."
