Lexington takes Manhattan with new design showroom
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, December 19, 2011
NEW YORK - Lexington Home Brands welcomed designers, media and other guests to its new 10,000-square-foot design studio at the New York Design Center in Manhattan on Dec. 8.
The space, on the building's second floor, has been open since just before Thanksgiving. The December event, marking the company's official debut in the building, also featured a several song performance by Grammy-winning jazz singer Steve Tyrell and his band.
The New York space contains pieces from every collection in Lexington's lineup including Tommy Bahama, Henry Link Trading Co. and Lexington branded product. The goal is to appeal to designers and their clients seeking a broad array of styles, finishes and fabrics.

"We have experienced remarkable growth in our to-the-trade design business over the last several years," said Phil Haney, Lexington president and CEO, in a statement. "This serves to validate the strength and significance of this distribution channel. It also validates our strategic decision to elevate the styling and sophistication of the Lexington product line."
Jim Druckman, New York Design Center president and one of the building's owners, said he was pleased to have Lexington as a tenant.
"In an industry and a marketplace that is not growing, Lexington is growing and we are growing," he said. "We are growing with new tenants and diverse tenants. As business is not as good as it's been, we want to take a bigger share of what's out there and we think we are doing that."
In a related announcement, Lexington has named Stefanie Pelusi showroom manager at the NYDC space. Pelusi previously managed the Pierre Deux showroom, also in Manhattan.
