Factory owner Lu opens store prototype in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Factory owner Sunny Lu, an exporter of furniture to the United States for more than two decades, has opened his first prototype Rachily Bella retail furniture store here.
The store, which opened in July, offers furniture from Gail's Accents and Liberty Furniture, both longtime customers of Lu, and Winmark bedroom, dining and chairs, also sourced from Lu's factories.
Lu, who was born and educated in Taiwan, said he also plans to open stores in Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong.
"We had looked at lots of different retailers in America and looked at the retailers that are available to consumers in Taiwan," he said in a press release. "I have taken the time to visit all types of retailers from the biggest to the smallest of boutiques and this is what has formed, my vision for Rachily Bella."
Rachily Bella features halogen lighting, solid oak floors and a big-screen television that displays products. The store also has a coffee and tea bar and a wine tasting area.
The company's items are from Lu's factories in China, Vietnam and Malaysia.
"It is our belief that Asian countries want and really like American styles and with this store we are showing them how stores in America merchandise their product," he said.
