CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The overseas division of furniture logistics provider Globe Express Services is working with three universities in China to help develop future CEOs.
The company announced that it is offering scholarships to 100 students in China as part of its GES Future CEO initiative. The scholarship fund totals $47,400. Thus far, Global has granted scholarship awards to Dalian Maritime University, Shanghai Maritime University and Nankai University.
About $16,600 of the funds awarded to two of the schools is being matched by the Chinese government. The company also will grant 70% of the funds to female students in order to provide greater opportunities to Asian women, a goal of GES founder Pierre Y. Abou Khater.
"With this scholarship, we hope to support and encourage the entrepreneurship of university students," company CEO Ziad Korban said in a statement. "We're inspired by the thought that this opportunity could change their lives."
