Boyles Furniture name to be reborn

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The Boyles Furniture name will soon be revived by two family members that operated the North Carolina-based retailer before the parent company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009, according to a story in the Charlotte Observer.
The Observer said last week that brothers Chad and Alex Hendricks purchased the rights to the Boyles name and will sell a line marketed as Boyles furniture. The paper said they will open a 60,000-square-foot space on Feb. 1 in an old Burlington Inds. complex in Mooresville.
The space will be next to Merinos Home Furnishings in the same facility. Merinos is operated by developer Michael Bay, who also owns the complex, according to the Observer.
Top 100 retailer Hendricks Furniture Group, which owned and operated the former Boyles Furniture and Rugs, emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 2010, but closed its last two stores in High Point and Pineville, N.C., in early 2011.
At one time, the company operated five retail locations. In bankruptcy court filings, the company attributed its decline to overexpansion and the effects of the recession.
