ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The dollar volume of U.S. mattress shipments jumped a hefty 14.4% in November, while bedding units posted a more modest 2.7% gain, the International Sleep Products Assn. reported.
The bedding industry's trade association said in its November Bedding Barometer report, which reflects the performance of 18 large bedding producers, that the average unit price for November was up 11.5% to $217.36.
For the first 11 months of the year, bedding unit sales were up 1.6% while the dollar value of bedding shipments was up 9.1%, ISPA said.
The Bedding Barometer reports reflect the performance of producers that account for about 65% of total bedding units and about 74% of the wholesale value of the bedding market. But ISPA cautions that the figures are not necessarily representative of the full industry's performance.
