Bob's hires Perry to lead digital operations

Scott PerryMANCHESTER, Conn. — Industry veteran and technology specialist Scott Perry has joined Bob’s Discount Furniture as vice president, executive director of digital and omnichannel experience.

Formerly senior vice president of digital marketing, information technology and omnichannel for San Diego-based Jerome’s Furniture, Perry will lead Bob’s “digital innovation enterprise-wide,” according to his LinkedIn profile. In the new position, he will head an e-commerce and digital staff at Bob’s, managing the website, analytics, e-commerce, digital marketing, customer-focused applications and the in-store digital experience.

He reports to Bob’s Chief Marketing Officer Steve Nesle.

“We’re super excited to have him,” said Michael Hoffman, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing for the 89-store Manchester, Conn.-based Top 100 company. “Scott is a tremendous talent who will help us build out our digital and e-commerce experience.”

Perry, who will relocate to New England to work from Bob’s Manchester headquarters, was with Jerome’s since Oct. 2013, starting as vice president of digital. While there, he was instrumental in building the Southern California retailer’s digital presence, helping develop and deploy, among other things, an in-store app and online augmented reality technology. Before Jerome’s, Perry was CEO and owner of e-commerce retailer Everything Furniture and vice president of e-commerce for National Business Furniture.

Jerome's CEO Brian Woods, wished Perry "all the best," and said the the retailer is in the process of searching for a replacement.

"We’re very happy for Scott and this new opportunity," Woods told Furniture Today. "He elevated Jerome’s Furniture’s digital presence greatly, ensuring that our customers receive the same 'Real Family Values' experience online as they do in our showrooms. We will continue this mission by building upon the solid foundation he created."

Separately, Bob’s and Jerome’s will soon become competitors, when Bob’s opens its first six Los Angeles-area-stores, Feb. 15, just before Presidents Day.

Also, on Oct. 23, Bob’s will cut the ribbon on its expanded corporate campus, which includes a new 103,000-square-foot office building to accommodate its growth and a renovated showroom and outlet that were part of the original 90,000-square-foot headquarters building.
