Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, January 16, 2012
COON RAPIDS, Minn. — HOM Furniture will honor Pat Kobler of King Hickory as its 2011 Sales Representative of the Year and L.J. Gascho as Vendor of the Year at an annual banquet Jan. 21 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in St. Paul, Minn.
"The selection of this year's winners reflects the quality standards for which we are known at every level, including operations, sales and service," said Rodney Johansen, CEO of the Coon Rapids, Minn.,-based Top 100 company, which operates HOM, Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furniture and Dock 86.
"We build a strong retail experience by partnering with vendors and representatives with impeccable reputations and work ethic," he added.
Kobler has provided support for both the HOM and Gabberts brands and "has been the primary force in our achieving a fantastic growth year in sales for King Hickory," the company said in a release. "Pat's strong product recommendations have enabled King Hickory to bridge both brands and kept staff focused on the individual products."
Kobler also was praised for his attention to detail, earning kudos from the administrative side of the business as well as from the delivery and service departments.
"His upholstery training sessions are detailed and he is readily available by phone for custom order counsel and option details," the company said. "Pat has taken requests for new product development and has worked closely with his management at King Hickory in developing compelling goods and programs for us to be more successful."
L.J. Gascho of Pigeon, Mich., a family-owned case goods business with 62 employees, manufactures its product at a farm settled by the family six generations ago.
It networks with more than 20 Amish and Mennonite component manufacturing shops in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. All products then go to the Michigan plant for final machining, tooling, assembly and finishing.
"Gascho has been instrumental in the success of HOM's Amish Craftsmen brand," the retailer said. "Their success can be attributed to refined style, quality product, on-time shipping and great customer service. Gascho has been able to bridge Old World manufacturing techniques and principles with on-trend design."
