TAMPA, Fla. — Bedding veterans Steve Antinori and Adam Weinman have launched Sleep International, a new mattress company here that will be a licensee of Top 10 bedding producer Therapedic.

Antinori, CEO of the new company, was a well-known member of the Spring Air group before he left the industry in 2008. Weinman, president of Sleep International, most recently worked for a Comfort Solutions licensee in Miami.

The two worked together for more than a decade when Weinman was president of Orthomatic, an adjustable bedding company owned by the Antinori family. Antinori and Weinman are partners in the new mattress company, which has two facilities in Tampa totaling 120,000 square feet.

They considered a number of business opportunities in the mattress industry before deciding to become a Therapedic licensee.

"Therapedic will be the focus," Weinman said. "Therapedic has a strong name we can build on that has recognition with consumers. In addition, we are excited to present our entire portfolio of our company branded products to the marketplace."

Therapedic CEO Gerry Borreggine said Antinori and Weinman are a strong addition to his group.

"Not to diminish the importance of the brand or quality of the product, but for me, the most important ingredients for success are the people," Borreggine said. "We have partnered with two of the finest people in Steve Antinori and Adam Weinman. They are talented individuals and quality people."

Borreggine added that "the primary area of responsibility for this new licensee is most of the state of Florida."

Weinman said the new company will re-create the culture of quality and service that Antinori brought to his mattress companies.

Although the bedding marketplace features plenty of competition, Antinori and Weinman said they will find their niche.

"There is always room for a company that makes quality and innovation its top priority," Weinman said. "We are building our business from the ground up utilizing the latest machinery as well as lean manufacturing principles which will enable us to be highly efficient. This will allow us the ability to offer the latest features and designs that customers expect in every market we enter."
