Badcock promotes Meyer to merchandising VP post

MULBERRY, Fla. — Top 100 Badcock Home Furniture & more has promoted Greg Meyer to vice president of merchandising.

Meyer, who reports to Bill Daughtrey, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing, will oversee the department’s product merchandising and category managers, “working to help each category reach its full potential,” the Top 100 company said in a release. He will partner with retail, advertising, and supply chain “to help maximize the customer experience with enhanced product offerings.”

Meyer joined Badcock as bedding category manager in December 2012 and later became category manager for case goods, which includes adult and youth bedroom and dining. “Greg grew each respective category and made significant contributions,” Badcock said.

Before that, he was an account manager with Serta. He worked for the bedding producer for several years in both Arizona and Chicago serving as sales manager and director of sales. Meyer got his start in the industry working at Top 100 Slumberland of Little Canada, Minn. to pay his way through college at the University of Minnesota.

Prior to moving to Florida, Meyer and his wife, Marilyn, owned and operated a chain of 12 sleep shop stores.

The promotional to midpriced Badcock sells furniture, bedding, electronics, appliances, seasonal and other home goods at more than 330 corporate and dealer-owned stores in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia.

The Mulberry, Fla.-based retailer is No. 23 on Furniture Today’s Top 100 with an estimated $420.1 million in furniture, bedding and accessory sales at then 319 stores for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016.
