Kimball Hospitality announces plans to acquire assets of D'Style

Purchase includes D'Style subsidiary Allan Copley

JASPER, Ind. – Kimball Hospitality, a subsidiary of Kimball International Inc., has announced it plans to purchase the assets of hospitality resource D’style and its subsidiary, Allan Copley Designs, which sells residential case goods and upholstery, for about $20 million. Officials said the closing would take place within the next 30 days.

D’Style supplies metal public space and guest room furnishings ranging such as tables, vanities, grilles, lighting and other accent pieces for the hospitality industry. Allan Copley sells wood, metal and glass occasional, accent and dining furniture to both the residential and hospitality markets.

“This acquisition expands Kimball Hospitality’s reach into hospitality public space areas and adds an attractive product portfolio of solutions for the residential market,” the company said in a statement. “These offerings will enable us to take advantage of the trend where hospitality, residential and commercial designs are merging.”

“Strategically, this positions us to be a significant player in the public space area, expanding our reach beyond guestrooms,” said Kourtney Smith, president of Kimball Hospitality. “D’Style’s custom metal capability is a huge asset with many designs incorporating mixed materials. Designers have trusted D’Style with their custom creations for decades.”

Roberto Besquin, the former co-owner and founder of the company, will continue to lead D’Style, serving as executive director of the company. Former co-owner Jacob Shor will serve as senior director of operations for D’Style.

“Jacob and I are confident we have found a buyer that we are strategically aligned with and who is committed to investing in the business for future growth,” Besquin said. “We have had great success over the last 28 years and are excited to partner with someone who can help take our company to new heights.”

“D’Style and Kimball International have similar values, principles and company culture, which will enable us to build success together,” said Bob Schneider, chairman and CEO of Kimball International, in a statement.

The acquisition also includes Disenos de Estilo in Tijuana, Mexico, a member of the D’Style group that manufactures exclusively for D’Style. Kimball said this will strengthen the company’s North American manufacturing footprint and serve as a distribution channel to the Mexico and Latin American hospitality markets.
