Next Generation-Now hosting Las Vegas event Tuesday
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2012
LAS VEGAS - Next Generation-Now, the community of young home furnishings professionals, will host a Chatter over Cocktails reception from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the One-Six Club on the 16th floor of World Market Center Building B.
The event will feature "Speed Networking" during the first 20 minutes, giving attendees a chance to meet new faces.
"Market is about exploration and discovery, new colors, patterns, styles and innovations. But none of these are what makes any one market stand out amongst the rest. The most important aspect of market, to our industry, is relationships," said Nick Gates of Grants Pass, Ore.-based Gates Furniture and Next Generation-Now committee chair.
RSVP for the event by visiting the group's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NextGenNow.
The group also announced that it is launching a social website where members can create a profile, share information, create events, add photos or videos, create and share blogs, take part in forum discussions and more. It's at http://social.ngnow.org. Members will be able to connect their profiles to their Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and Google accounts.
"We took what our generation is all about and brought it into one single focused place," said Kevin Doran, vice chairman of the Next Generation-Now committee. "We took everything great about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube and centered that around building connections and networking around the furniture industry."
Next Generation-Now is facilitated by the Western Home Furnishings Assn. Its major sponsor is FurnitureDealer.net.
