Massood logistics names execs, adds services

EDEN, N.C. - Massood Logistics, formed last fall following the shutdown of Furniture Transport Group, has added two key executives and expanded its menu of services.
The company said Tara Massood, a former executive with retailer Thomasville Home Furnishings of New Jersey, has been named general manager. She is relocating to the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina, and reports to her father, Massood Logistics President Edward Massood.
In addition, Paula Powell Cubberley, most recently an executive administrator with Furniture Transport Group, has joined the company as an account executive. She earlier worked with the former MGM Transport and case goods major Stanley Furniture.
"We are extremely pleased that Tara will be following in the footsteps of her grandfather in her new role as general manager," said Edward Massood. "We are also very lucky to have Paula join our team. Her energy and devotion to superior service make her the ideal interface for our customers, particularly in the fast-moving environment in which we are all operating today."

Cubberley will be meeting with customers at the Las Vegas Market, which begins Jan. 30, he said.
The Massood family founded MGM Transport and continued to run the carrier until 2007, when it was merged with two other carriers to form Furniture Transport Group.
In addition to his duties with Massood Logistics, Edward Massood remains president of the five-store Thomasville Home Furnishings of New Jersey.
Massood Logistics has a 550,000-sqaure-foot distribution center in Eden, as well as a distribution center and home delivery operation in Edison, N.J.
The company now offers furniture assembly, repair and refinishing in addition to its warehousing, packaging and consolidation services.
