Bassett opening first Las Vegas Market showroom
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2012
LAS VEGAS - Bassett Furniture Inds. will formally open its new 20,000-square-foot showroom here today as the Las Vegas Market begins.
The case goods and upholstery manufacturer and importer has scheduled a 9 a.m. ribbon cutting in World Market Center space A-953 that will include an appearance by Monica Pedersen, a designer and TV personality who regularly appears on HGTV's "Designed to Sell."
The ribbon cutting marks Bassett's debut at the Las Vegas show.
The new showroom will feature an expanded Palmetto collection of bedroom and entertainment furniture; several new finishes for Bassett's custom dining program; a new finish for the cottagestyled Wakefield bedroom group; and four new styles in stationary, motion and leather upholstery.
In addition, the showroom includes a 3,000-square-foot Bassett International gallery that has select products for international buyers.
Bassett, which once owned a large stake in the International Home Furnishings Center in High Point, agreed to lease a Las Vegas Market showroom after selling its IHFC stake last year as part of a $1 billion deal that brought the World Market Center and several major High Point showroom buildings under common ownership.
Bassett has a minority interest in the new ownership group. The majority owners are various private equity funds managed by Bain Capital and Oaktree Capital Management.
Bassett is partnering with HGTV for a pair of custom upholstery and accent furniture lines, but those collections won't be introduced until the April market in High Point.
