Vi-Spring unveils group made of Shetland wool

Vi-Spring’s new Shetland Superb mattress line features wool from the Shetland Isle.
LAS VEGAS - It's another British invasion.
Vi-Spring, the 110-yearold bedding maker based in Devon, England, has brought its biggest product introduction ever to the bedding-rich Las Vegas Market with the launch of its Shetland Superb line.
As the name suggests, the mattress line is packed with wool from the Shetland Isle, the small island north of Scotland renowned for producing the world's finest wool, company officials say.
Vi-Spring shows here in World Market Center C-184 in a high-end mattress showroom operated by Ergo Bedroom, the Irvine, Calif.-based bedding retailer that has expanded to the designer showroom complex in the World Market Center. Vi-Spring officials say the new Shetland Superb line is a standout on the world mattress scene.
"This new product is a result of two years of very hard work and research. When people try this bed they are going to be simply amazed," said Terence Bachor, director of North American operations for Vi-Spring.
The Shetland wool in the bed is "the finest, most sought-after wool in the world," Bachor said. The wool enjoys protected status and has resilient, buoyant qualities, he added.
In addition, the Shetland Superb is "the only mattress in the world that requires no chemicals or treatments in order to pass the stringent fire regulations in the U.S. and is considered the safest and most organic mattress in the world," Bachor said.
Wool is difficult to ignite, doesn't sustain burning, and doesn't generate toxic gases. Using wool in its bed allows Vi-Spring to avoid using chemicals, the company says.
While it is one of the newest bedding exhibitors on the Las Vegas scene, Vi-Spring is an established bedding producer. Founded in 1901, the company was the first bed maker to produce an interior sprung mattress using a system of individually wrapped springs that is commonly used in bedding lines today, the company says.
"Vi-Spring has never wavered from its original philosophy of using the best craftsmanship and quality materials to produce the finest beds in the world, and this is why Vi-Spring beds have been the only choice for anyone who demands the best for over 110 years," Bachor said.
Each Vi-Spring bed is individually hand-made to order, which can take weeks, the company says. Divans (foundations) and headboards are upholstered in the customer's choice of more than 90 fabrics, in color palettes ranging from traditional to contemporary, the company said.
Vi-Spring says its mattresses contain only natural materials, including cashmere, mohair, silk, bamboo, horsehair, cotton and lamb's wool.
The horsehair in the line has been upgraded to South American horsetail and to Moosburger long-strand horsehair, "the pride of Austria," Bachor said.
The new Masterpiece model is covered in 100% pure silk as a standard cover - "which is unheard of in the industry," he added.
"In these demanding times, the need for good quality sleep is paramount," said Mike Meehan, managing director at Vi-Spring. "Our reputation for creating life-changing beds has been growing for some time now, and we are proud to be No. 1 in the world and have such ardent customers who are consistently vocal about how much they love their Vi-Spring beds."
