Restonic focuses on gel technology
David Perry -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2012
LAS VEGAS - Top 15 bedding producer Restonic, making an aggressive bid to grow its business this year, brings a broad offering of new products and marketing programs to the market here.
And it will be showcasing its introductions in a refreshed showroom designed to spotlight its brand.
Restonic is following up on its entry into the growing gel bedding category last year with a range of new models that incorporate gel-infused memory foam.
In the specialty bedding arena, Restonic's TempaGel line expands to four models, retailing from $1,299 to $2,499. TempaGel is an open-cell memory foam combined with gel, and has the ability to regulate body heat. The producer features Outlast technology, which uses phase change materials, in the cover. Those materials absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort, Restonic officials said.
"Demand for this line has been a delightful surprise," said Ron Passaglia, Restonic president. "Our test with the line in High Point proves that we have a better-performing gel for today's consumers."
Restonic also is using TempaGel in some models in its revamped open coil ComfortCare line; in its ComfortCare Select line, a posturized, individually wrapped coil line; and in a HealthRest hybrid line, where it is used over individually wrapped coils in a non-quilted design.
"The popularity of gel-infused memory foam in the marketplace made our decision to add this element to our innerspring products a must-do," Passaglia said.
He said it is "a natural marriage" to bring gel memory foam and innersprings together. Consumers appreciate the "trusted feels" of innerspring beds and the fresh comfort offerings of gel memory foam, Passaglia said.
Also new at Restonic is a ComfortCare Collection with an enhanced Marvelous Middle, one of Restonic's signature bedding offerings. The Marvelous Middle, first introduced in 1965, is a reinforced center third of the mattress that increases body support, mattress durability and resiliency, the company says. Retails range from $599 to $1,699.
The enhanced Marvelous Middle now features a highdensity layer quilted into the center third of the cover. Independent testing shows that this additional quilting produces a more supportive Marvelous Middle, officials said.
The producer also is expanding its Dream Beam Technology - polyethelene beams in a custom shape - throughout the line. The beams are engineered to improve body alignment and support in the Marvelous Middle area.
"Our dealers and customers have come to depend on Restonic to deliver high quality, supportive and comfortable sleep sets at a strong value in the marketplace," Passaglia said. "The enhanced Marvelous Middle will exceed expectations, and fulfill the Restonic tag line - Supporting Dreams."
The top-end models in the ComfortCare line feature a coil-on-coil construction, latex, and the company's TempaGel.
