High-end vendor French Heritage adds outdoor dining group

New category mirrors indoor residential looks

HIGH POINT — High-end case goods and upholstery manufacturer French Heritage has launched an outdoor dining category that mirrors the vintage French-inspired looks seen in its indoor residential line.

At the October High Point Market, the company unveiled a seven-piece group called the Cyprus Collection: Furniture for the Outdoors. Through both finish, forms and mix of materials the pieces are made to look like antiques.

The group includes two leg tables — round and rectangular — a bar unit with wine storage and two smaller consoles, also with drawer storage and inlaid stone tops. There are also two chairs, one of which has cabriole style legs and a mesh seat and back and a tub chair with a woven rattan frame and splayed legs.

At market, the group was also shown with two benches, including one with a mesh seat and wood frame and a second with a country French ladder-back design. While designed specifically for the outdoors, the collection is also well suited for indoor/outdoor rooms and other indoor spaces.

The pieces are made in Indonesia with solid mango and come in a weatherproof acrylic finish.

Dining tables also feature stone inlays, including either limestone or granite. The 47-inch round and 63-inch-long rectangular tables shown at market seat about four and six to eight, respectively, with the rectangular leg table retailing from $1,499 to $1,749.

However, all pieces also can be made to custom sizes and also are available in multiple colors and wood tone finishes.

“This is a made-to-order product,” said Jacques Wayser, vice president and owner.

Dealers responded well to the pieces, Wayser noted, adding that the factory is already working on about three container orders from market. The initial orders are expected to ship in March and hit retail by early May, in time for the spring and summer outdoor selling season.

In particular, he said, dealers liked the European/French-inspired designs. They also liked the variety of pieces including the wine storage bar unit.

“It wouldn’t be French without some wine storage,” Wayser said. “That may be the most important piece in the collection.”

Following the initial launch, French Heritage plans to add to the line, joining a number of other upper-middle to upper-end resources with expanding outdoor furniture collections including A.R.T. Furniture, Lexington Home Brands and Century Furniture.

French Heritage also has a contract division called FH Contract that supplies custom furniture to the luxury hotel industry as well as upscale residential homes.
