Gus Design raises 2,100 pounds of food for food banks

Michael J. Knell -- Furniture Today, February 10, 2012

TORONTO — Gus Design Group said its annual Keep on Giving promotion collected over 2,100 pounds of food in January, which was donated to food banks local to participating retailers.

During the month-long promotion, consumers bringing in three non-perishable food items into a participating Gus Design retailer received 15% off the company's upholstery, dining, storage, lighting, and accessories.

"The Gus Keep on Giving event was a huge success for our store and for our community," Sean Colohan, manager of Gus retailer Stylegarage in Vancouver, British Columbia, said in a statement. "Hunger is a year-round issue, and so we were excited to work with Gus to collect donations at a time of year when food banks need the support. Our customers were glad to know that their contributions would help those in need in the local community."
