Former New Jersey retailer Jerry Goldman dies at 96

ELIZABETH, N.J. — Gerson "Jerry" Goldman, who was the owner of the former Hudson Furniture store here, died Monday at his home. He was 96.
In additional to leading Hudson, Goldman was a past president and treasurer of the New Jersey Furniture Assn., which later merged with another association to form the Metropolitan Furnishings Assn. of New Jersey.
In 1972, Goldman was a recipient of the MFANJ's Howard Liveright Memorial Award, its most prestigious honor.
Active in the community, Goldman was on the board of the Visiting Nurses Assn., was vice president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and was a second vice chairman of the Union County Republican Party.
He is survived by three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
