Fabric supplier Se7en's parent company hopes to add 110 jobs

Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, February 22, 2012

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington Technologies Inc., which includes upholstery fabric supplier Se7en, said it plans to create 110 jobs and invest $725,000 over the next three years, a project supported by a $120,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

The expansion is to secure a U.S. government contract to supply equipment for the military, which would include cut-and-sewn products. The expansion, announced by North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue, is contingent upon getting the contract, which would bring a payroll of new jobs to the area worth nearly $2.5 million.

"Our company is delighted to have the opportunity to create these jobs in North Carolina, especially in the textile segment that has seen hard times in recent years," said Mike Durham, president and CEO of Burlington Technologies. He said the company "is proud and honored that we will be providing product for the men and women of our U.S. military."

Burlington Technologies has more than a million square feet of manufacturing space at two large factories in the Burlington area previously owned by Burlington Inds.

The One North Carolina Fund provides financial assistance through local governments to attract business projects that will stimulate and create jobs in the state. The governor said that, through use of the fund, more than 60,000 jobs and $11 billion in investment have been created since 2001.
