Prestige Motion opens warehouse, takes larger market showroom
Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, April 20, 2012
Until now, the motion specialist has been a container-only supplier from China, but the new 15,000-square-foot warehouse at 600 N. Pacific Ave. in High Point will allow the company to service accounts with less than container load quantities, said Michael Parasmo, CEO.
The new space can be expanded to 150,000 square feet as demand increases, he said.
"We've always been a strict importer of containers but some of our customers are saying, ‘Hey, pack this up for us; try this; put in a warehouse and we'll support it,'" he said.
Parasmo also has moved from his former 5,000-square-foot showroom in Center Point to 10,000 square feet in Center Point on Centennial. The added space will allow the company to show 80 of its 100 styles, including leather, bonded, and fabric recliners, power recliners, lift chairs and motion upholstery.
The company sells leather sofas starting at $599 retail and six-piece leather sectionals with four recliners built in for $1,799.
Parasmo has been in the motion business for 40 years, and said he wishes to thank four people who helped him in his career - Rita Goldberg, owner of Barrons Furniture in Maple Shade, N.J.; Joseph Bennett, a sales representative with Burlington House; and two executives with former upholstery giant Kroehler Mfg., Bob O'Mara, who was senior vice president of operations, and Alan Lembresky, senior vice president of sales.
"Forty years ago these four people saw me as a diamond in the rough and nurtured me and helped me on the path to where I am today," said Parasmo.
