WARREN, Mich. — Art Van Furniture has hired Steve Caprario as vice president of warehousing and distribution.
Caprario's responsibilities include all facets of logistics, central services and home delivery for the Top 100 company as well as quality assurance and repair center operations. He replaces Ken Fitzgerald, who has left the company, and reports to Art Van President Gary Van Elslander.
"This is a huge job that includes managing our 1 million-square-foot warehouse along with 250 employees, over 200 trucks and efficient delivery of millions of dollars of inventory at any given time," Van Elslander said. "We're confident that he's the right man for the job and we're happy to welcome him to our leadership team."
Caprario has more than 15 years of experience in furniture distribution, most recently as senior vice president of operations, logistics and customer care for Manchester, Conn.-based Bob's Discount Furniture. There, he was in charge of multiple distribution centers and a multi-state delivery operation.
Before that, he was with Foley's Department Stores in Texas, Robinson's-May Department Stores and Walt Disney.
Art Van operates 34 Arv Van stores in Michigan as well as six Art Van PureSleep bedding stores and the more promotional Mattress World chain with stores in Michigan and Indianapolis.
