Dennis Hoy joins FMG as merchandising director

HIGH POINT — Furniture Marketing Group has hired Dennis Hoy as director of merchandising, a new position for the buying group.

Hoy will work with vendors to provide product and merchandising programs targeting FMG members. He reports to FMG Executive Director Mike Herschel.

Hoy previously was president of case goods importer Glen Arbor Furniture and has held several management positions in the industry with the former Collezione Europa and Bassett Furniture Inds. While at Bassett, he was vice president of merchandising, vice president of upholstery and vice president of corporate stores.

He began in the industry on the retail side as a buyer for the former Reliable Stores and Marlo Furniture in Forestville, Md.

"This new position will allow the entire buying group to expand its areas of interest as well as develop closer relationships with FMG preferred vendors," Herschel said in a release.

High Point-based FMG has 101 retailer members in the North America, including many Top 100 U.S. furniture stores, with nearly 750 storefronts and annual sales of more than $2 billion.
