Furniture China expands, adds exhibitors for September show

Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, May 24, 2012

SHANGHAI — One of Asia's largest furniture trade shows is adding 400 exhibitors this September, including another 100 for a furniture woodworking and materials component of the show, according to organizers.

Last September's Furniture China trade show had about 2,600 exhibitors, including 750 for the woodworking machinery and raw materials component, called FMC China. This year's event, set for Sept. 11-15 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, will feature 3,000 exhibitors, including 850 for FMC China, which will run Sept. 11-14.

In addition to woodworking machinery and equipment, the FMC China segment showcases new furniture fabrics and leather.

Four new halls will accommodate the additional exhibitors, bringing the total to 17 halls. The expansion will bring the total square footage to more than 7.5 million square feet, up from about 6 million square feet last year.

The total square footage includes more than 3 million square feet of space at the China National Furniture Expo held in conjunction with Furniture China at the JSWB furniture complex, also in Shanghai.

According to the Furniture China website, the show expects an estimated 80,000 visitors from 160 countries, up from 74,565 last year.

The event also will feature the 2012 First World Health Sleep Conference on Sept. 12. The event aims to promote technological innovation, energy conservation and other key developments and strategies in mattress production. It is open to domestic and overseas industry associations and manufacturers, economists, industry analysts and researchers and industry media.

Furniture China is organized by the China National Furniture Assn. and Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co. Ltd. For more information, or to register, visit www.furniture-china.cn.
