John Stasiw named Simmons Canada president

ATLANTA — Bedding major Simmons has named John Stasiw, a longtime executive with office products supplier Acco Brands, as president of its Simmons Canada unit.

In his new post, Stasiw will report to Simmons U.S. president Tony Smith, and will be responsible for developing and implementing the company's business plan across all areas of the Canadian organization.

"Canada is an important region for us, and we are pleased to have someone as experienced and visionary as John join the team," Smith said. "We have already experienced tremendous growth this year over 2011 in Canada, and have high expectations for continued success."

In addition to his operational role, Smith said Stasiw will oversee the rollout of the company's Recharge marketing campaign in Canada.

Stasiw is replacing Paul Bognar, who resigned as Simmons Canada president in December to become executive vice president and chief operating officer of restaurant operator SIR Corp.

Stasiw most recently was Acco's senior vice president and general manager of its global print finishing business. He earlier was CEO of Ace Products, a producer of tires for lawn and garden and agricultural equipment, and held several senior leadership positions with office furniture resource Steelcase.

Stasiw, a Canadian, said he is happy to relocate from Chicago to Toronto to work for Simmons Canada.

"I have watched the bedding industry for several years and was attracted to Simmons for several reasons, including its strong marketplace position, impressive consumer awareness and brand legacy, strong retailer relationships, and superb product quality," he said.
