Online retailer Wayfair supporting Habitat for Humanity

BOSTON — Online home furnishings retailer Wayfair is partnering with Habitat for Humanity International to help build and rehabilitate affordable homes.
In a release, the Boston-based company said it is mobilizing volunteers and donating building materials, household goods and money to "help advance Habitat's work toward eliminating poverty housing and homelessness."
It launched the partnership Thursday with an online promotion called You Get, We Give, promising that for every purchase of a lighting fixture or lamp greater than $75, Wayfair will donate $5 to Habitat.
"At Wayfair, we spend every day helping people create the surroundings that make a house a home," said Niraj Shah, Wayfair CEO and co-founder. "We understand the power and meaning of home and believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel safe and secure in a place they can call home."
In addition to the promotion running this month and ongoing donations of building materials, furniture and appliances, the company feature a donation option at check-out on its Wayfair.com website to help raise consumer awareness and funds for the cause.
Kymberly Wolff, senior vice president of development at Habitat for Humanity International, said the organization is grateful for the support, noting that Wayfair employees already have spent three days building a Habitat home in Boston.
