Las Vegas Market tenants expand, relocate showrooms

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 24, 2012

LAS VEGAS — A number of tenants at the World Market Center have expanded their showrooms for next week's Las Vegas Market and some have relocated, according to market organizers.

Among the largest expansions for the July 30-Aug. 3 market are leather upholstery resource HTL and bedding giant Sealy.

HTL has moved from a 10,000-square-foot space in Building C to 15,223 square feet in building B, space B-900. Sealy remains at the address it has occupied at previous markets, B-800, but has added nearly 4,000 square feet to give it a 15,254-square-foot showroom.

"The expansion of a significant number of furniture showrooms is a testament to our value as the leading furniture market in the western U.S. and the success these companies have had in serving their customer base and growing new accounts in Las Vegas," said Tom Mitchell, president of home furnishings for International Market Centers, the parent company of World Market Center. "These expanded showrooms pave the way for a stronger presentation of new product and popular lines by these leading companies, which in and of itself will drive more retailers to Las Vegas Market."

Separately, Jay Quimby, executive vice president of sales at upholstery producer United Furniture Inds., said that the company has signed a long-term lease with the World Market Center and will be in an expanded 21,332-square-foot showroom in B-1380.

Quimby said the company will show an expanded product offering, particularly in its growing motion and Beautyrest categories.

"Since last November and our opening of our new West Coast plant in Victorville, Calif., we felt it was important to have a major presence at the Vegas market to support our growing West Coast and international customers," he added.
