India International Furniture Fair organizers postpone show

NEW DELHI, India — Uncertainty about the European economy has caused event organizers to postpone the Dec. 6-9 India International Furniture Fair.

Officials said the weak economy in Europe is having an effect on the industry, which is in turn causing concern about attendance prospects for the December show.

The show, held in New Delhi, typically has about 130 exhibitors showing product in 80,000 square feet of show space. The 2011 event attracted more than 2,300 visitors, according to the show website. It was not clear how many of those visitors were from Europe or other markets around the world.

The IIFF is organized by the International Furniture Fair Singapore and MP International, which also organizes other trade shows and exhibits in Asia and Europe. It was not clear when the next India International Furniture Fair will be held.
