The Willis award is presented to "a furniture retailer who has gone above and beyond in serving their community, their industry and their church," according to a release from the National Home Furnishings Assn.
Woodham is a 45-year industry veteran and has worked in retail and as a manufacturer's representative. In retail, in addition to his current position, Woodham has been a credit manager, store manager, general manager and vice president of advertising at retailers Rose Furniture, Furniture Fair, Morgan Stewart Galleries, National Furniture and Colfax.
Among his charitable activities, Woodham personally delivered two truck loads of furniture donated by Colfax vendors to 13 victims of Hurricane Katrina.
He also served as the president of Southern Home Furnishings Assn. in 2011 and on the board of the National Home Furnishings Assn.
The Willis award was presented to Woodham in June during the welcome dinner at the SHFA Conference at Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island, S.C.
"Because of his integrity, generosity, and dedication to his family and his home furnishings industry, Gary now stands along side past Willis Award of Merit recipients," the NHFA said.
