Jewelry, gifts, décor to be featured during Tupelo Furniture Market
Larry Thomas -- Furniture Today, August 9, 2012
TUPELO, Miss. — A concurrent trade show featuring jewelry, gifts and other home décor has been added to the upcoming Tupelo Furniture Market, which begins Aug. 16.
The new show, officially called the Furniture and Home Accessories Show, will occupy nearly 100,000 square feet in the market's Building 1, and will be open to the public as well as the trade.
Tupelo Market Chairman V.M. Cleveland said many of the show's exhibitors have been scattered throughout the market's six buildings, but the new arrangement will give them access to more attendees - including many who won't be shopping the furniture market.
"Many of them have always sold samples to our furniture exhibitors and buyers, so this is a way to consolidate them in one area and make it easier for everyone to find them," Cleveland said.
He said some furniture exhibitors from Building 1 have been relocated to other market buildings, but a few have chosen to remain there.
In addition to jewelry, the new show includes products such as picture frames, wall art, handbags, pottery and related items for the home.
Wholesale buyers and members of the public who register for the new show will receive a badge that won't give them access to the furniture market, Cleveland said.
