Maria Yee buys High Point Market showroom building

HIGH POINT — Bedroom and upholstery resource Maria Yee Inc. has purchased a 36,000-square-foot showroom in High Point.
The company did not reveal the purchase price of the building at 118 N. Main St., which the company said was previously owned by DeCoro.
Maria Yee said it is renovating the building and will occupy about 13,000 square feet on the first floor in time for the October market. It will expand to the second floor by April and plans to immediately lease out the remaining 6,000 square feet on the third floor.
The company previously occupied a showroom on East Kivett Drive. CEO Peter Yee said the purchase is a sign of the company's commitment to the High Point Market.
"We have been coming to High Point since 1995," he said. "We believe in the High Point Market and are committed to its growth and success by making this showroom our home base.... This new space will allow us to serve our customers in an exciting and vibrant new arena and allow us to showcase the breadth and diversity of our EcoLuxury product lines."
The building has access from Main and Wrenn streets and has 15-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, brick walls and floor-to-ceiling windows. It also has a 3,000-square-foot hospitality area that the company will use for meetings, parties and other industry functions.
