Surya makes Inc. fastest-growing list for second year

CALHOUN, Ga. — Area rugs and home accessories manufacturer Surya has been named to Inc. Magazine's list of the United States' fastest-growing privately held businesses for the second consecutive year.

Surya President Satya Tiwari stands in the company’s spacious Showplace showroom, space 4100, which opened at the April High Point Market.

The company made the list with a ranking of 2,691, up 755 spots from 2011.

Surya has experienced consistent double-digit revenue growth since 2004, according to a press release. The company reached $50 million in revenue in 2011, gaining ground in what it estimates to be a $4 billion retail U.S. rug market.

"Surya has always been passionate about simplifying the home decorating process. We have focused extensively in developing innovative solutions for our business customers, while increasing product selection and availability in the market," said Satya Tiwari, president. "Our growth is a great affirmation that our customers find value in partnering with us to solve their needs."

Surya works with a number of designers, including Emmy-winning costume designer Bob Mackie and HGTV hosts Candice Olson and Angelo Surmelis. The company has also become known for it large and rapid product introductions as well as its marketing tactics, which include hiring planes to fly Surya-branded banners above markets and giving away stylish tote bags at shows.

Surya will be recognized at the 31st Annual Inc. 500/5000 Conference & Awards Ceremony Oct. 3-5 in Phoenix.
