Gill Bros. Furniture donates to VA patients

MUNCIE, Ind. — Gill Bros. Furniture wrapped up its Veterans' Gift Card Project campaign recently, making a donation of $2,584, thanks to customer and staff participation and a match by owners Richard and Steve Gill.
Started last year by Pastor Randy Davis of Redkey, Ind., the project collects $5 fast food gift cards and distributes them to veterans who are receiving outpatient care at VA hospitals in Marion, Indianapolis, and Fort Wayne, Ind.
To date, Davis has received 6,743 gift cards and is well on his way to passing his next goal of 7,000 gift cards by his birthday, Sept. 11. Gill Bros. has provided him with his second largest donation to date, according to a release.
"The Veterans' Gift Card Project is an excellent way to honor our veterans," Richard Gill said. "When Randy gave a presentation at a Rotary Club meeting, it really spoke to me. I saw it as a way to honor the memory of my brother, Jimmy, who received care through the VA hospital."
A veteran of the Navy, Jimmy Gill died in 2010.
Davis is continuing to receive donations of gift cards and cash for the project. Click here for more information.
