ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Several speakers praised the business skills of Josh and Adam Hudson of Hudson's Furniture as they were honored here with the Distinguished Retailer of the Year Award from the Florida Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.
FHFRA members and guests gathered at the Oceanside Country Club here for an award luncheon.
Hudson's Furniture of Sanford, Fla., was founded by Fred Hudson, who was the 2002 Distinguished Retailer of the Year Award recipient. He has turned over control of the business to his twin sons, Josh and Adam, who are 30.
Josh Hudson is president of Hudson's Furniture and Adam Hudson is vice president. Hudson's, which has stores in central Florida, went through a bankruptcy to restructure its real estate debt two years ago. FHFRA officials said the award recognizes Josh and Adam's work with the company and in creating an outlet concept, The Furniture Deal, that has successfully diversified their business.
The association said the award goes to "a retailer who has distinguished himself/herself by contributing through creative skills, management expertise, hard work and loyalty to the furniture industry in a manner that has enhanced or influenced the furniture industry in the state of Florida."
As part of the award luncheon, a donation of $1,500 was made to the Halifax Humane Society of Daytona Beach, Fla.
