WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of 8,400 office chairs sold at Office Depot.
The agency said Office Depot has received 78 reports of incidents involving seat plates breaking, including one report of a fall injury.
The Realspace Soho Prestigio high-back leather chair was produced by True Innovations LLC of Hong Kong. It has both commercial and residential applications and was sold exclusively by Office Depot for about $250 from October 2008 through February 2011.
The chairs bear the SKU number 181-265 and have the words Realspace Soho and Prestigio High Back Chair Black Leather printed on a label on the underside of the seat.
Consumers have been advised to stop using the chairs immediately and can contact True Innovations at (800) 379-9773 or visit www.trueinnovations.com for a repair kit, which includes a replacement seat plate and an installation tool.
