NEW YORK — Swavelle/Mill Creek, a converter of decorative fabric for home furnishings and hospitality use, will launch a line designed by interior designer Nate Berkus at Showtime in December.
The collection features 96 SKUs covering a range of categories, including print, drapery and woven upholstery fabrics.
"As a designer, I think fabric is so important in a space," Berkus said in a release. "It adds depth and interest in a way that no other medium can in a room. And what's amazing about fabric is that you don't need much to make a statement in your space. Sometimes, just one yard turned into a pillow is all you need to up the design ante in a room."
Berkus' designs for the fabric collection were inspired by his international travels, company officials said.
"Nate has created an enticing collection that will appeal to both those who are seeking beautiful, traditional looks as well as to the young homeowner who wishes to be surrounded with new and unique designs, without compromising on luxury," said Richard Hanfling, president of Swavelle/Mill Creek.
Swavelle/Mill Creek will launch the collection nationally in January at retailer Calico. The second collection of about 40 SKUs will be launched in late spring.
Company representatives said that wholesale prices for the upholstery fabric will range from $7.95 a yard to $25.95 a yard. The average price is expected to be around $15.
Swavelle/Mill Creek and its two subsidiaries, Bravo Fabrics International and Textile Fabric Associates, supply to wholesalers, furniture manufacturers, retailers and the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industries.
