AICO launching Hollywood Kids collection
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, October 13, 2012
HIGH POINT - Case goods and upholstery resource AICO is looking to make a statement in youth furniture this market, the newest category in an ever-expanding furniture lineup.
The company has designed the Hollywood Kids line after its bestselling Hollywood Swank collection, which is part of the licensed Michael Amini and Jane Seymour Design Collaboration.
Officials said the 18-SKU collection has three bed options available, including twin and full-sized versions. There also are dressers and chests scaled down from the original collection, in addition to desks scaled to fit smaller rooms.
The primary audience for the collection includes preteens and teens and other young adults. However, the scaling also makes it suitable for second bedrooms or guest bedrooms.
It has style elements seen in the Hollywood Swank collection, including crystals and high-end vinyls on pieces such as upholstered headboards.
"This line won't be just your basic boys and girls' bubble gum stuff," said Chuck Reilly, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "Michael's niche in the marketplace has always been to think big, and it reflects in all that he does. We've taken one of our hottest selling collections and created an all new wow factor with Hollywood Kids."
Officials did not reveal specific pricing, but said the line is targeted at middle to upper end consumers as well as retailers currently selling the Hollywood Swank line.
The company also announced that its AICO Office Systems unit is introducing a new contemporary modular home office collection called Prevue.
This includes a 36-by 72-inch desk for commercial or contract office projects as well as a smaller scale desk for residential use. It also includes a mobile credenza and mobile file units and a coordinating eight-foot conference table.
There are also glass door bookcase units that can be paired with storage, and lateral file cabinets featuring metallic accents including streamlined aluminum legs.
This market, the company also has redesigned its 12-SKU Incept series, which has a new walnut veneer finish and brushed stainless steel leg on various pieces. The collection has a new entertainment console, part of the company's effort to blend home office and home entertainment furniture.
The new youth and office pieces can be seen at the company's showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center, C-802.
