Customatic Adjustable Bedz adds 2nd factory

NATICK, Mass. - Customatic Adjustable Bedz is adding a second factory in Taiwan to keep up with growing demand for its line of adjustable bed bases.
     Company officials say the adjustable bedding category continues to experience strong sales growth.
     "The demand for adjustable beds is still in its infancy," said Phil McCarty, co-managing member for Customatic, whose domestic operations are based in Natick. "We believe our current expansion strategy will assure healthy growth while maintaining the high quality standards and controls to meet and exceed our customers' expectations."
     The new facility is expected to be operational by late October. The three-story facility will house new corporate offices, a cut and sew textile department, robotic welding machinery, an internal powder coating system with enhanced finish options, and more dedicated assembly lines.
     The company's current facility has a 45,000-squarefoot footprint with a total of 90,000 feet of manufacturing space. The new facility has a 60,000-square-foot footprint with capacity for growth to an additional 120,000 square feet.
     "Our new factory gives us the ability to launch our new feature innovations and designs," said Phil Sherman, co-managing member for Customatic. "This effort will nearly double our current manufacturing capacity while positioning our customers and partners for stronger growth and greater success in the adjustable bed category. Many other adjustable companies are outsourcing production, which we see as a recipe for disaster in maintaining consistent quality standards."
