PORTLAND, Ore. — Sealy is relocating its mattress plant here to Lacey, Wash., saying it wants to reduce costs and be closer to its retail customers, the Portland Business Journal reports.
Sealy said that about 60% of the Portland plant's customers are in Washington. It also said the existing plant's operations and logistics costs aren't competitive with the brand's other plants. The facility employs 128 people.
The company said the new plant will serve customers in Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
