Loloi donation going to storm relief efforts
Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 19, 2012
DALLAS - Area rugs manufacturer Loloi Rugs is sending some relief to the East Coast following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, donating a percentage of its sales Nov. 12-16 to the American Red Cross to assist with cleanup efforts.
"The East Coast was ripped apart by Hurricane Sandy," CEO Amir Loloi said. "And we want to help. By donating a percentage of our sales to the American Red Cross, we feel like we're putting money in the hands of those best suited to help New York, New Jersey and the other affected areas recover and rebuild."
The Red Cross works with government agencies, local emergency managers and community agencies to determine where resources are most needed.
Within the first week of the agency's Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, it had distributed 481,000 meals and snacks and 33,000 relief items such as hygiene kits to storm victims. All 323 of its emergency response vehicles were deployed to the area.
