SEI's Taylor Milstein raises funds for Down Syndrome Guild

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 4, 2012

DALLAS — Southern Enterprises Inc. employee Taylor Milstein has helped raise more than $16,000 through support letters and other efforts for The Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.

Milstein, who lives with down syndrome, is a 12-year employee of home furnishings and decorative accessories importer SEI. The fundraising efforts were in connection with the guild's annual Buddy Walk in early November, a press release said.

More than 9,000 people, including many SEI employees, participated in the event, which included a one-mile fun walk, live music, food truck vendors and other activities.

Funds go towards down syndrome research and awareness and also to provide such aid as wheelchairs and physical therapy to more than 1,400 local families.

In total, the Buddy Walk raised $297,000, exceeding its goal by $37,000, SEI said.
